The 2025 NFL draft is here, gifting the Philadelphia Eagles an opportunity to bolster their future. The defending Super Bowl Champions are heading to Lambeau Field with eight draft selections to make, leaving time to tell who the Eagles will add to fill the holes created by this offseason's departures.

Even though it remains to be seen which positions will be addressed first, the Eagles potentially hinted at their draft plans with a move they made earlier this week.

Jahan Dotson's Time in Philadelphia is Likely Over as Eagles Potentiall Eye WRs in Draft

The Eagles announced notable offseason news on Wednesday when they revealed that they aren't picking up wideout Jahan Dotson's fifth-year option. The former 2022 first-round selection was acquired alongside a fifth-round pick from the Washington Commanders last offseason in exchange for a conditional third-rounder and two 2025 seventh-round picks.

Although the ex-Penn State playmaker is still young enough (25) to have a long-lasting NFL career, it wouldn't be shocking to learn that the Eagles might want to replace him as soon as this weekend.

Dotson showed promise during his run with the Commanders, turning 84 receptions into 1,041 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 17 games. Eagles fans were hoping that he could have similar success playing alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith as he did with the team's NFC East rival.

Fast forward to 2024, when Dotson didn't come close to matching his previous totals. The Newark, NJ native only caught 19-of-33 targets (57.6%) sent his way, converting those opportunities into 216 receiving yards without a single score. He then posted a 3-53-1 stat line in four postseason appearances, causing the ice beneath his feet to grow a bit thinner.

As promising as he once was, it doesn't look like Dotson is going to live up to his draft projections anytime soon. He's struggling to produce in a WR3 role, which is why the Eagles might want to replace him with a hungrier rookie boasting more upside at this stage.

There's a financial incentive behind a potential split, too. The Eagles can create $1.1 million in salary cap savings by trading Dotson after June 1, according to Spotrac, which could become a likelier scenario if they leave Green Bay with a high-upside rookie WR or two.

All signs point to Dotson not being a part of the Eagles' future plans, and it wouldn't be shocking if the team found his replacement as early as within the next three days.
