4 Eagles Whose Futures Were Decided in Super Bowl

These four Eagles players showed up when their numbers were called in Super Bowl 59.

2. Zack Baun, LB

Before Super Bowl 59 kicked off, Baun likely cemented himself as a part of this Eagles’ defense for the long-term.

The veteran linebacker was signed to a one-year deal this past offseason and has parlayed it into a massive multi-year extension, hopefully with the Eagles. This season, Baun recorded 151 combined tackles, 11 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, five forced fumbles, four pass deflections, and an interception.

No one saw Baun having a Pro Bowl season after he was predominantly a special teams player in New Orleans. The 28-year-old defender has played an integral role in Vic Fangio’s scheme and showed that in the Super Bowl.

Late in the second quarter, Baun had an interception off Mahomes inside the KC’s 14-yard line, which put the Eagles’ offense up with great field position. Philadelphia’s offense did not waste the extra possession as star QB Jalen Hurts found star wide receiver A.J. Brown for a 12-yard touchdown.

Baun finished the Super Bowl with seven combined tackles, a quarterback hit, a pass deflection, and an interception. It was a storybook ending for a player who became a Pro Bowler and first-team All-Pro.

Spotrac projects the veteran defender’s calculated market value with a two-year, $19.4 million deal in free agency. Baun will likely shatter that number as Howie Roseman will want to keep him in midnight green for the foreseeable future.
