The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 6-2 after they beat the New York Giants 38-20 in Week 8. They now have their bye week before traveling to play the Green Bay Packers in Week 10. With the trade deadline on Nov. 4, teams are gearing up to make some moves, and that officially took place on Monday, leaving the Eagles with one less trade target on the board.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Tennessee is trading cornerback Roger McCreary to the Los Angeles Rams for a 2026 fifth-round pick. With another team in the NFC bolstering their secondary, the Eagles will have to look elsewhere if they want to improve their CB room.
Roger McCreary Got Traded to Rams on Monday
McCreary's name has been in trade talks for weeks now, and he finally got moved. Considering that the Eagles have dealt with multiple problems with their at their CB2 spot, the idea of landing the 25-year-old was certainly enticing.
Adoree' Jackson owns a 47.1 overall grade (105th among 112 graded corners) and a 47.3 coverage grade (101st among 112 graded corners) on Pro Football Focus. In addition to his shaky play, Jackson missed Week 8 with a concussion.
That led to Kelee Ringo getting the start, who actually played his best game of the season (78.9 overall and 79.8 coverage grade on PFF). Nonetheless, he hasn't been a consistent and reliable playmaker in the secondary for the Eagles.
It wouldn't be a shocker to see the Eagles make a move to find a cornerback, but with McCreary gone, they will have to look elsewhere. Riq Woolen of the Seattle Seahawks and Michael Carter from the New York Jets are two names that have been floated in trade talks recently.
Whether or not the Eagles look to acquire either two or have their eyes elsewhere remains to be seen. But one thing they can't run away from is time, as the deadline is a week away.
Considering they are on their bye this week and are using to time to rest, general manager Howie Roseman and the coaching staff may use the extra time to gauge the trade market.
Philadelphia knows it must improve in that area, and they watched a contender in the NFC get better in that area. But now it's time for them to do the same and find more difference makers in the secondary.
