The Philadelphia Eagles are the team that everyone will look to take down in 2025. That's what comes when you win the Super Bowl.
Despite winning the title, the roster will look different in the fall. They had to part ways with multiple players for different reasons, and one of those guys was cornerback Darius Slay. At the beginning of March, Philadelphia released Slay, and he latched onto the Pittsburgh Steelers in free agency.
Despite no longer being on the Eagles roster, he's still keeping tabs on what's happening in Philly and commented on head coach Nick Sirianni getting an extension.
On his X account, Slay tweeted out, "Well deserved. One of the best in the business," in regard to Siranni's new deal.
Darius Slay is Happy to See Nick Sirianni Get Extended
Heading into the 2024 season, there were concerns about whether Sirianni was the right man for the job, but he silenced all doubters with a stellar season.
Slay and Sirianni developed a good relationship during their time together. Slay joined the Birds in 2020, and Sirianni came the year after in 2021.
Over that span, Slay was a three-time Pro Bowler, appeared in the Super Bowl twice before finally securing that title in 2024.
The bond that the group created over the last season was special and is something that will keep them connected for the long haul.
Of course, Slay is happy to see his former head coach get a long-term deal. It took him 12 years in the league to finally snag that ring, and the man who led this team played a big role in that.
While many fans have turned the page on the Slay-Eagles chapter, it doesn't mean that all ties have been cut.
With Sirianni now locked in for the foreseeable future, his attention is on getting this team prepared to defend their title. Meanwhile, Slay hopes to continue his solid play in the Steel City.
