The Philadelphia Eagles were busy handing out contract extensions to a couple of key players this offseason who played key roles in helping the team win Super Bowl 59 earlier this year.
However, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni played a significant role in turning this team around from a 2-2 start, getting them to the big game, and winning it. Philadelphia’s brass realized the work Sirianni did last season and his previous years with the club, and finally rewarded him on Monday.
The Eagles announced they signed head coach Nick Sirianni to a multi-year extension. Eagles CEO and chairman Jeffrey Lurie issued a statement following the announcement.
Sirianni has done an exceptional job taking over from former head coach Doug Pederson and making the Eagles a contender year in and year out. It hasn’t been easy for Sirianni in the City of Brotherly Love, but he’s had the Eagles in the playoffs every year, which includes two Super Bowl appearances.
In his four-year run with the Eagles, the 43-year-old head coach has a 48-20 record through 68 games, which includes two NFC East titles. Many Eagles fans were not pleased with Sirianni’s coaching after the 2023 season, which saw Philadelphia start the year with a 10-1 record, but falter down the stretch (1-6 in their last seven games).
Most Philadelphia fans wanted him gone, and that narrative did not stop even at the start of the 2024 season when the Eagles were not playing up to par. However, after the bye in Week 5, the Eagles went 12-1 to finish the regular season.
They also had two impressive performances in the playoffs, which included a dominating win in Super Bowl 59. Eagles fans hope Sirianni can carry this momentum from last season and help this team potentially repeat or make another deep playoff run.
