Eagles Veteran Likely Just Attended His Last OTAs With Philadelphia

There's a good chance this Philly vet won't be back for another OTA session.

The majority of 2025 organized team activities have wrapped up around the NFL, and the Philadelphia Eagles are the latest organization to join that list after ending their OTAs on Friday. Head coach Nick Sirianni and his staff now have a better idea of what their roster will look like when they chase a second consecutive Super Bowl title next season.

Several members of the Eagles' 90-man roster are likely in it for the long haul, while others are in Philadelphia on borrowed time. That includes one veteran wide receiver who may have just experienced his last OTAs with the franchise.

Eagles WR Jahan Dotson Just Attended Final OTAs in Philly

Several Eagles will be entering the 2025 NFL season on expiring contracts, including wideout Jahan Dotson. Philadelphia acquired the former 2022 first-round pick from the rival Washington Commanders last summer, and it's safe to say he'll have to step up if he wants to be re-signed and return for more OTAs in 2026.

The trade seemed like a risk worth taking at the time. Dotson was coming off two solid campaigns with the Commanders that saw him average 42 receptions and 520.5 receiving yards per season, all while scoring 11 touchdowns. Assuming he could replicate those results, he'd be the perfect WR3 to play alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

Instead of stepping up into that role, Dotson was largely invisible throughout the 2024 calendar. The former Penn State playmaker was only targeted 33 times throughout his 17 regular-season outings, hauling in 19 balls for only 216 yards without a touchdown. He also had twice as many catch-less outings (6) than multi-catch performances (3).

His playoff run also wasn't anything to write home about, catching 3-of-5 targets for 53 yards and a TD. By the time all was said and done, Dotson finished with underwhelming Pro Football Focus grades regarding receiving (55.0, 116th) and overall offense (54.8, 121st).

Hopefully, Dotson figures out how to turn things around before it's too late. He'll be competing for snaps in training camp with the likes of Johnny Wilson, Ainias Smith, Terrace Marshall Jr., Elijah Cooks, and Danny Gray, none of whom are names a former first-rounder should have trouble outperforming.

If Dotson can't stand out from that group, he doesn't deserve another contract from the defending Super Bowl Champions. Eagles fans will have a better sense of his outlook after training camp begins on Tuesday, July 22.
