The Philadelphia Eagles are still digesting the Super Bowl title over the Kansas City Chiefs. They were able to get revenge on a Chiefs team that beat them just two years ago.
When your team is as successful as the Eagles are, players and coaches will get plucked during the offseason. That already started as Kellen Moore became the New Orleans Saints head coach.
The Eagles have countless players slated to hit free agency and offensive tackle Jordan Mailata made it clear that he wants GM Howie Roseman to re-sign guard Mekhi Becton.
Mailata said, "I hope he comes back. You hear that Howie. Please bring him back."
Eagles News: Jordan Mailata Wants Mekhi Becton Back for the 2025 Season
Last April, Becton signed with the Eagles on a one-year, $2.75 million. It was a prove it deal for a 25-year-old who dealt with two major knee injuries with the New York Jets.
He moved from tackle inside to guard with Philadelphia and gave them a bruising force along the interior. Becton started in 15 games for the Eagles, logging a 75.2 overall grade (21st among 135 eligible guards) and 74.7 run-blocking grade (19th among 135 eligible guards) per PFF.
The Louisville product finished with four penalties, allowing just two QB hits and three sacks. He was a stabilizing force upfront and Mailata wants him back with the Birds.
That will be tough for the Eagles to pull off, as they have $24 million in cap space per Spotrac. Zack Baun, Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Oren Burks are some guys hitting free agency.
Teams are always looking for quality offensive linemen and Becton could provide that. Becton's projected market value is listed at a four-year, $40 million deal on Spotrac.com. Prices will certainly vary on the open market and if they increase by that margin, it's all but guaranated that Becton will be playing elsewhere in 2025.
This offensive line was stout all season, so it's obvious to see why Mailata wants Becton back. Especially since Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson are on the books for the 2025 season.
