Eagles Trade for Dallas Goedert Backup in Latest Proposed Deal
The Philadelphia Eagles are 3-2 on the year and travel to play the New York Giants in an NFC East tilt on Sunday.
This team has dealt with injuries to multiple players early on in the season. Tight end Dallas Goedert is the latest playmaker to suffer an injury. In Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns, he suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter and is expected to miss multiple weeks.
That leaves Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll as two players who will have larger roles going forward. That isn't ideal for Philadelphia but they acquired a backup tight end in the latest trade proposal from ESPN.

ESPN's Brian Barnwell suggested that the Eagles trade for Cincinnati tight end Tanner Hudson.
Hudson has seen his role diminish this season and could help the Eagles survive a few weeks without Goedert.
"Twenty-nine-year-old tight ends with limited track records of production aren't going to transform an offense, but Hudson could be a reliable pair of hands in an offense that uses multi-tight end sets. The Eagles were using 12 personnel on a league-high 33.6% of their snaps before Dallas Goedert went down because of a hamstring injury Sunday, which is expected to cost him time."

In 45 career games, Hudson has notched 56 catches for 569 yards and one touchdown. These stats obviously aren't earth-shattering but he would allow the Eagles to continue using their two tight end sets while Goedert recovers.
It also would cost a day three draft pick. That is a small price to pay to keep everything rolling with a key playmaker out. GM Howie Roseman is always finding ways to improve the team and this could be a low-cost move that helps the football team on game day.
