The Philadelphia Eagles ground their way to victory yet again on Sunday, this time staving off the Green Bay Packers to advance to the second round of the NFL playoffs. This contest lacked the explosiveness of their season-opening meeting in Brazil, but that's due to a slew of injuries affecting both sides during this Wild Card affair.

Philadelphia entered this matchup banged up, and it saw more players go down, including standout linebacker Nakobe Dean. The playmaker was forced out of action due to a knee injury, required a cart to get back to the locker room, and he was quickly ruled out after that.

Unfortunately, the first postgame update on Dean failed to deliver any good news.

NBC Sports Philadelphia's John Clark captured a photo of Dean leaving Lincoln Financial Field in a dire state. Dean was spotted with his hoodie up while wearing a full leg brace and using a crutch to navigate through the tunnel.

Considering the sequence of events and this update, the outlook appears less than rosy for the third-year pro. Many are worried about an ACL injury at play here, but it's possible something less severe, like a hyperextension, occurred.

Regardless, Dean's status for the rest of the playoffs is in serious jeopardy, even if this ailment is on the non-postseason-ending side. The Eagles won't have any off time to help the linebacker get back to 100%, as they'll suit up in the Divisional Round next weekend, and the NFC Championship Game would follow right after if they advance.

A trip to the Super Bowl, and the entire week off prior for the Pro Bowl, would be the only way to give Dean a chance at suiting up again this postseason.

The Eagles will surely miss the Georgia product for any amount of time he misses. Dean enjoyed a breakout year under Vic Fangio in 2024, recording career highs in sacks (3.0), passes defensed (4), tackles for loss (9) and QB hits (6).

Expect Philly and head coach Nick Sirianni to provide clearer updates on Dean's health in the coming days.
