Eagles Star WR Surprise DNP Ahead of Week 9 Clash vs. Jaguars
The Philadelphia Eagles are 5-2 as they roll into Week 9. On Sunday, the Jacksonville Jaguars, led by Doug Pederson, will march into Lincoln Financial Field. They are 2-6 and on the brink of a full-blown disaster.
The Eagles are seeking to extend their win streak to four games and have been rolling. As they prepare for this cross-conference tilt, the injury report was released on Friday. DeVonta Smith popped up on it and was absent from Friday's session.
Eagles News: DeVonta Smith Didn't Practice on Friday
Per Eliot Shorr-Parks, Smith didn't practice due to personal reasons. It wasn't listed as an injury so his status for Sunday is likely in the clear.
Since Smith wasn't on the injury report all week, this isn't something to worry about for Eagles fans. The Alabama product has been a reliable playmaker for the Eagles this season. He has 31 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns in 2024. The 25-year-old has gone over 60 receiving yards in five games this year.
The Eagles' aerial attack has a chance to dominate, as Jacksonville is ranked 29th in pass defense (382.1). That's music to the ears of Philadelphia fans, as the team has scored 28-plus in back-to-back games.
Ever since coming out of their bye in Week 5, the team has played with a different type of energy. That's what they needed and seemed to have found a nice groove. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Eagles are 7.5-point favorites in Week 9.
Look for them to come out aggressive and lean on Smith as they normally do.
