We’re only weeks away from the Philadelphia Eagles’ regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 4 at Lincoln Financial Field.

The defending Super Bowl champions are hoping to have a fully healthy team when the action begins, as they know the Cowboys and every team they play this season will give their best efforts.

As things currently stand, the Eagles are keeping an eye on the health of Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson and star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Dickerson underwent a minor procedure on his right meniscus, and the hope is that he’ll be back before the season opener.

Meanwhile, Brown’s timeline for return is a little bit unclear, as he’s been sidelined since earlier this month with a hamstring injury. On Monday, the Eagles provided another update on the star wide receiver ahead of practice.

According to Zach Berman of The Athletic, the Eagles listed Brown among the five Eagles who will not practice.

Eagles fans would love to see the star wideout back at practice, at least in a limited capacity. But as NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo puts it, Philadelphia is taking its time to make sure he doesn’t suffer any setbacks.

And that’s the key for the Eagles as they prepare for their home opener. Since the starters will likely not play in the preseason finale, it will allow Brown to get more time to heal his hamstring.

Now, if the Eagles are in the same spot leading into Week 1 with the veteran wideout, then there might be some cause for concern. However, we’re still a ways from that.

Last week, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told reporters that Brown is “working through some things,” but the goal is to have everybody ready for the next season.

Last season, Brown showed once again why he’s one of the better wide receivers in the league. He turned in another 1,000-yard season (1,079) despite only having 67 receptions (lowest in his Eagles’ tenure) and missing three games to injury and one for rest.

In the three games Brown missed early last season, the Eagles had a 1-2 record, which just shows how important he is to their success in the passing game. Nevertheless, Philly hopes to have a healthy Brown ready to go as it begins their title defense.
