The Philadelphia Eagles have won eight straight and firmly established themselves as a serious Super Bowl contender. The impressive road win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday sent a message to the rest of the league. Unfortunately for Eagles fans, however, Philadelphia lost tight end Dallas Goedert in the process. The talented playmaker left the game with a knee injury and is expected to be sidelined for multiple weeks.

Goedert is one of the best all-around tight ends in the league. Even though the Eagles have grown accustomed to him missing a few games every season, it will still be difficult to replace his production.

While Grant Calcaterra will almost certainly get the starting job, the Eagles made a roster move to add depth to the rotation. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Eagles signed veteran tight end CJ Uzomah to the active roster on Wednesday.

NFL News: Eagles Sign TE CJ Uzomah to Active Roster

Uzomah has been a member of the Eagles practice squad since October. He was elevated to the active roster three times already, exhausting his elevations for the season. Goedert's injury provided the 31-year-old tight end an excellent opportunity to carve out a role for himself in the final stretch of the season.

The former Bengals standout has played 39 offensive and 13 special teams snaps this season. He hasn't seen a target or made a catch so far, but he should see his role expand in Week 14 against the Carolina Panthers. Depending on when Goedert returns, the Eagles may have to rely on Uzomah in the upcoming weeks.
