The Philadelphia Eagles officially got their roster down to 53 players and are one step closer to getting on the field to defend their Super Bowl title.

While they have a championship-caliber roster, they are always looking to improve. And the bread and butter for the Eagles team is the offensive line. Philadelphia traded for veteran guard Kenyon Green earlier this offseason but decided to part ways with him due to his underwhelming play.

Nonetheless, the Eagles have their starting five offensive linemen, but depth is always needed. They should go after guard/center Cole Strange, who was released by the New England Patriots on Tuesday, per NFL reporter Ari Meirov.

Eagles Should Go After Ex-Patriots G/C Cole Strange on Waivers

Strange was selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft and started in 29 games across three seasons with the Patriots. The biggest problem for him during his time with New England was missing time due to several injuries. He suffered a torn patella tendon last year that limited him to just three games.

Ahead of New England's preseason finale, Strange was listed as the starter at left guard on the unofficial depth chart, but it seems that his spot was taken by Jared Wilson.

Philadelphia has Landon Dickerson and Tyler Steen as their starters at left and right guard, but having quality depth is huge. They have Matt Pryor and Trevor Keegan as backup guards, with Brett Toth and Drew Kendall as backup centers.

The fact that Strange can play both center and guard is fantastic versatility. Yes, he hasn't been able to put everything together yet, but he has the tools to be an effective starter in the NFL. Look at what the Eagles did with Mekhi Becton last season. After three injury-plagued seasons with the New York Jets, Becton started 15 games for the Eagles in 2024.

According to Pro Football Focus, he had a 75.3 overall grade (21st among 136 graded guards), 64.2 pass-blocking grade (56th among 136 graded guards), and a 74.7 run-blocking grade (19th among 136 graded guards).

Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is one of the best in the business and gets the most out of his linemen. He could have Strange playing at a high level and give the Eagles another athletic offensive lineman.

You never know when an injury will happen, so being prepared is key, hence why the Eagles should look at adding Strange ahead of the 2025 season.
