The Philadelphia Eagles are continuing to make roster cuts ahead of Tuesday afternoon's league-wide deadline to have rosters trimmed to 53 players.
After seeing multiple players on the offensive side of the ball get their pink slip, fans just learned which quarterbacks on the roster have seen their time in the City of Brotherly Love come to an end. Unfortunately, one of the signal callers who will no longer be on the Eagles' roster is a bit of a hometown hero in Philadelphia after starring for one of the city's prominent HS programs.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, former Syracuse Orange QB and St. Joe's Prep (PA) standout Kyle McCord has been released by the Eagles after the team spent a sixth-round draft pick on him earlier this spring.

Eagles Say Goodbye to Another QB After Releasing Rookie Kyle McCord
With the addition of Sam Howell via trade over the weekend, whatever likelihood there may have been that McCord was going to survive the team's final cuts all but went out the window. Philadelphia selected McCord where they did in the 2025 draft for a reason. Being a day 3 draft pick just doesn't offer much job security, no matter how they perform during the exhibition season.
The fact that McCord had struggled during the preseason did him no favors either. After completing just 42.9% (24/56) of his pass attempts for 191 yards and one touchdown to two interceptions, there was very little reason for the Eagles to keep him around, especially after acquiring Howell to join Tanner McKee as the QBs behind Jalen Hurts on the depth chart.
Fans in Philadelphia already know how impressive McKee was during the preseason. Even with a finger injury, he was never in danger of being cut. Adding a veteran like Howell, who not only has experience in the NFC East but has thrown for over 4,000 yards in his career, was a no-brainer for the Eagles as well.
McCord will likely land with another franchise in some capacity. Seeing him signed to a practice squad somewhere within the league would make a lot of sense. His time in Philadelphia, however, at least for now, is officially over.
