The Philadelphia Eagles aren't wasting any time with their decisions on which players will and won't make their final 53-man roster coming out of training camp.

While the Eagles have until Tuesday afternoon to trim their roster down to 53 players, the franchise began informing players of their release early Monday morning, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

One of the players let go by the franchise on Monday appeared in eight games this past season as part of the roster that decimated the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl to bring the City of Brotherly Love its second NFL championship over the last decade.

Eagles Cut TE E.J. Jenkins, Who Played 8 Games During Super Bowl Run

The path E.J. Jenkins took to the NFL has been a much more difficult one than many players who call the league their professional home today. After starting his career at St. Francis University, he transferred to the University of South Carolina before finishing his collegiate career at Georgia Tech.

As unfortunate as it is for a young player, having Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, and Kylen Granson in front of you on the depth chart makes life more difficult for a player like Jenkins. Monday afternoon, he was reminded of that fact by being relieved from his duties with the Eagles.

In his eight appearances with Philadelphia this past season, Jenkins reeled in a single pass reception and, as luck would have it, he wound up in the endzone. If you're only going to receive one touch on offense, having it go in for a score is about all any player can ask for.

This is just another bump in the road for a player like Jenkins. While not making the final roster is certainly disappointing, the one thing that the TE can hang his hat on is that he has faced far worse adversity on the field before and managed to bounce back and become better than before every single time.
