It seems no matter what Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has accomplished, the questions simply won't stop coming. Whether it is disrespectful rankings or hot take shows doubting the accomplishments, the questions never seem to end. Amid all of the scrutiny, Hurts appeared unbothered, continuing to do whatever it takes to win. To have a leader in the huddle who cares so little about personal accolades is a rarity. Especially when you consider the face of the Eagles has more than proven himself capable of putting up numbers when the situation calls for it.
Lighting up a respected KC defense in last year's Super Bowl apparently wasn't a big enough statement. Two games into the 2025 season, and there are questions about Jalen's lack of numbers. Two games in, and there are a combined 253 passing yards. This has caught the attention of pundits who are using the underwhelming number to overlook what Hurts has accomplished and why it has given Philly two impressive wins to start the season.
Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts Continues to be Underrated Despite Overwhelming Accomplishments
In game one against the Cowboys, Saquon Barkley was shut down, and the Eagles' passing attack wasn't working as expected. Hurts didn't panic but moved the chains consistently by using his legs and finding ways to keep the drive going. It was the most glaring example of doing whatever it takes to win. This is the exact type of drive and mentality that Patrick Mahomes was praised for a season ago, with the greatness of the quarterback's magic being consistently lauded as the reason for victories.
Hurts does the exact same thing, and we are back to the tired question of whether or not the passing numbers can be there. Fast forward to game two, and Barkley is rolling in Arrowhead, shortening the game and keeping the Eagles firmly in control in the Super Bowl rematch. The quarterback doesn't attempt to force anything, but is willing to take a backseat and only put the cape on if the situation demands.
This is the type of outlook and ability pundits continue to overlook while simply glancing at the box score and pointing out the lack of elite passing numbers. Acting as if we didn't just watch the Washington Commanders and Chiefs get blown off the field in championship games by this very same Philly passing attack.
Leading to the unavoidable fact that Hurts yet again is being disrespected and overlooked for his accomplishments. While Philly fans would love to see the light show and bigger numbers, there is an understanding and respect for a leader who is focused on the most important aspect of each game.
Winning is the only goal, and for Hurts, it isn't just talk. Sacrificing his own numbers or highlights, the Alabama product willingly does whatever it takes to win. Something fans and pundits simply shouldn't continue to overlook as the Eagles continue to roll while refusing to care what the stat sheet says. This, with the understanding that when the moment calls for it, Hurts can put up any numbers needed to win.
