The Super Bowl week is in full swing. With both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs arriving in New Orleans before the Super Bowl LIX, the opening night for the week's festivities took place on Monday. Eagles players, coaches, and owner Jeffrey Lurie spoke to the media and there were some important takeaways.

One of the more significant tidbits from Lurie's remarks was regarding head coach Nick Sirianni and his future with the team.

Jeffrey Lurie Has Surprise Comment on Nick Sirianni Ahead of Super Bowl

Eagles insider Jeff McLane reported that Lurie declined to comment on a contract extension for Sirianni, who is entering the fifth and final year of his contract. Perhaps more interestingly, however, was him calling Sirianni's outward emotion a strength but also one of his "weaknesses."

Sirianni is known for his emotional outbursts towards both Eagles and rival fans. At the same time, his emotions allow him to get the most out of his players.

Even though Sirianni's ride in Philadelphia has been a roller coaster, it's hard to argue with the results. He has the fifth-best winning percentage of any head coach in NFL history and is one of three head coaches ever to advance to multiple Super Bowls in their first four years of coaching. He is the only coach in the Super Bowl era to make the postseason in each of his first four seasons while making the Super Bowl more than once.

This makes him a surefire bet to get a contract extension with the Eagles in the offseason. As an organization, the Eagles rarely speak publicly about contract negotiations, so Lurie's refusal to comment on it isn't particularly surprising. It would be a major shock if Sirianni entered next season in a lame-duck status, so we will likely hear more about an extension after the Super Bowl.
