Philadelphia Eagles fans everywhere were waiting with bated breath regarding the latest injury updates involving Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson. Dickerson went down at the team’s open practice on Sunday, leaving fans to speculate about the severity of his injury.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Dickerson will undergo a “minor procedure” on his right meniscus in the coming days, and the goal will be for the standout lineman to return by the regular-season opener on Sept. 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.
With that being said, some Eagles fans wonder what the team will do to make up for the loss of Dickerson for the next few weeks. Would Philly sign a free agent or stick with what they have in-house?
Well, the Eagles did make a signing in the trenches, but not on the offensive line. The Eagles addressed their defensive tackle depth, bringing in an ex-Cowboys draft pick.

Eagles Sign Ex-Cowboys DT Justin Rogers Ahead of 2nd Preseason Game
According to Geoff Mosher of Philly Voice, the Eagles announced on Tuesday that they signed defensive tackle Justin Rogers.
The 23-year-old defensive lineman was most recently with the Seattle Seahawks, who signed him on July 21, but parted ways eight days later on July 29. Before latching on with Seattle, the young defender spent his rookie season with the Cowboys and the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Cowboys took Rogers in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but he ultimately did not make the team at the end of last summer.
However, it didn’t take long for the 6-foot-2, 338-pound lineman to find his next opportunity, as the Bengals immediately signed Rogers to the practice squad. Rogers spent most of the 2024 campaign in Cincinnati, before the Cowboys claimed him in late December.
The young defensive lineman did not receive any regular-season snaps for either Dallas or Cincinnati, as the Cowboys released him again in mid-June. Now the ex-Cowboy will try his luck with the Eagles for the next few weeks.
The Eagles’ DT depth is set at the top with Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Moro Ojomo. You also have to include rookie Ty Robinson in that mix. However, after those guys, Rogers has a shot to compete for a roster spot against Gabe Hall, Byron Young, Joe Evans, and Jacob Sykes.
Sykes and Hall both made some plays in the Eagles’ first preseason game, so that will be Rogers’ direct competition. We’ll see if he can make an immediate impact, as the Eagles are always looking for diamonds in the rough.
