The Philadelphia Eagles opened up their practice schedule for the week on Wednesday as they prepare for an NFC East clash against the Dallas Cowboys. However, one player was not at practice, which caught the attention of Eagles fans.

Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts missed Wednesday’s practice as it was a rest day for him, according to Zach Berman of PHLY. It’s not unusual for vets to get a rest day or two during the season.

With Hurts not practicing, it allowed the rest of the QB room to get some valuable practice reps with the starters. Speaking of the Eagles’ QB depth chart, the team made a notable change on Thursday.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles signed defensive end Tarron Jackson and released quarterback Will Grier from the practice squad.

The 29-year-old Grier was signed to a one-year, $1.125 million contract after spending the 2023 season with multiple teams (Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and the Cincinnati Bengals).

The veteran QB appeared in two of Philadelphia’s preseason games this summer, completing 7-of-11 passes for 51 yards. The Eagles released Grier ahead of the 53-man roster deadline in August and signed to the practice squad days later.

Grier spent most of his playing career with the Dallas Cowboys after he was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Since the Eagles have all 17 spots on the practice squad locked up, it's highly unlikely there will be a quick reunion between them and Grier.
