The Philadelphia Eagles are public enemy No. 1 going into 2025. That's what happens when you're the defending Super Bowl champs. On the way there, they took down the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round.
EDGE rusher Jared Verse is still thinking about the loss and talked about it when he was a guest on “The Rich Eisen Show.” He said, "Every day. It crosses my mind probably about three times a day.”
Two big plays continue to replay in his mind. The 60-yard TD run by Saquon Barkley and the 44-yard TD run by Jalen Hurts.
Verse stated, "On Saquon’s big run to the opposite side of the field, if I hadn’t hesitated and had run off the bat, I could have caught him,” he said. “If I’d just stayed in my gap as he ran toward my side instead of trying to overlap, he wouldn’t have gotten that second run. And then there was Jalen Hurts’ big run. I did my job, but I could have been better and stopped it. It upsets me every day because we could have won the game.”
Jared Verse Still Thinking About Loss to Eagles
Verse didn't get off on the right foot with Philly when he said he "hates" Eagles fans before the showdown. During the pregame, he and Jalen Carter exchanged some words. Verse was also egging fans on, but despite the antics, he came away with the loss.
We do acknowledge that Verse was a force in that contest, logging four tackles, three TFLs, two sacks, and two QB hits. Regardless of his stellar play, it wasn't enough, and that loss is still on replay in his head.
While he's been thinking about the loss, the Eagles were celebrating lifting that Lombardi Trophy and preparing to defend their title. This rivalry between Verse and the Eagles is just starting and will be something to watch for years to come.
