Eagles Given Even More Reason to Explore Kelee Ringo Breakup This Offseason

A split must be on GM Howie Roseman's mind in the coming months.

The Philadelphia Eagles weren't huge spenders in free agency this offseason, but they were still able to make some additions to the cornerback room. They signed Tariq Woolen to a one-year, $12 million deal, while also adding Jonathan Jones as a depth option.

Woolen and Jones join an Eagles secondary that was looking for another option in the starting lineup next to Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean. Woolen takes that role as one of the boundary corners, but with the additions to the CB room, it looks like Kelee Ringo's time in Philadelphia is running out.

Those acquisitions they made show how the front office views Ringo, and the Eagles would be better off moving him for draft capital.

Kelee Ringo’s Time with Eagles Could Come to an End This Offseason

Martin Frank of the Delaware News Journal revealed in November 2025 that the Eagles would "love" to trade Ringo.

"After acquiring three cornerbacks since August in Jakorian Bennett (Aug. 4), Michael Carter (Oct. 29) and Jaire Alexander (Nov. 1), the Eagles would love to trade away Ringo or (Adoree') Jackson in order to possibly recoup a sixth- or seventh-round draft pick in 2026. Ringo, who's still only 23 years old, would seem to have the most value, based on his age and size (6-foot-2, 207 pounds). "

The fact that the Eagles felt this way before making two more additions to the CB room shows that Ringo's time in Philly is coming to an end. They drafted him in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL draft, but he hasn't been able to find success.

Last season, Ringo was given a chance to earn a starting job, yet he couldn't answer the call. On PFF, he finished with a 55.3 overall grade (86th among 114 graded CBs) and a 49.2 coverage grade (104th among 114 graded CBs). When in coverage, he gave up 12 catches (22 targets) for 186 yards. Teams looked his way frequently when he took the field, allowing 40+ yards in three of the six games he played more than 22 defensive snaps.

In 17 games (three starts), Ringo logged 37 total tackles, two pass deflections, and one interception. And that's with him playing a career-high 311 defensive snaps.

He has just one year left on his rookie deal, and with a pathway to more playing time looking limited, the Eagles could look to move on from him. A trade would free up $1.1 million in cap space while taking on just over $205,000 in dead money, according to Spotrac.

The asking price Frank revealed seems very reasonable, and they could be able to fetch a sixth or seventh round pick in return. A team may have faith in him and believe that he could play better after a change of scenery.

Nonetheless, the Eagles have effectively closed the door on Ringo making any sort of impact in 2026, and they'll be better off finding a way to move off the former Georgia standout this offseason.
