The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t landed in New Orleans yet, but they already have a major advantage for Super Bowl LIX. While the Eagles are planning their logistics ahead of their battle with the Kansas City Chiefs, they need to figure out practice plans and get used to their surroundings in the week leading up to the big game.

The Eagles received some good news in that respect. The NFL announced both team’s practice assignments ahead of Super Bowl week, and the luck of the draw has given Philadelphia a leg up as they prepare for kickoff on Feb. 9.

Eagles Draw Saints Practice Facility Ahead of Super Bowl LIX

According to Zach Berman of PHLY, the Eagles will practice at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center in Metairie, Louisiana. The 77,504 square-foot-practice facility houses the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans and underwent a $12 million renovation to the weight room and dining room completed last November.

While the Eagles will practice in a professional facility, the Chiefs won’t be as fortunate. The NFL has assigned the Chiefs to Tulane University, which is located in New Orleans but also has had issues constructing an indoor practice facility.

Plans for a new indoor “football bubble” that was supposed to be completed in late 2024 or early 2025 were scrapped by the university. Therefore, the team has bussed to the Saints facility or the Ceasars Superdome to avoid inclement weather.

Both options are unavailable to the Chiefs as the NFL prepares the Superdome for the game and the Saints’ facility will be occupied by the Eagles. While the Chiefs will be practicing at Yulman Stadium, which opened in 2014, they’ll still be at a college facility while Philadelphia conducts practice at a newly renovated NFL complex.

The practice conditions won’t guarantee success – especially as the Eagles manage injury issues at the beginning of practice this week. But it’s still a leg up as they try to topple the NFL’s current dynasty in Super Bowl LIX.
