The Philadelphia Eagles are returning to the Super Bowl for the second time in the last three years after defeating the Washington Commanders in the NFC  title game. In Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs, who are trying to pull off the three-peat, which has not been done in the Super Bowl era.

These two teams played each other in Super LVII in Glendale, AZ, where the Eagles lost 38-35 to the Chiefs. The Eagles will use these two weeks to game plan and rest ahead of the biggest game of the year.

On Wednesday, the Eagles announced their first participation report for Super Bowl LIX, which was an estimation since they didn’t practice. According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, nine players were given the DNP tag, while wide receiver Britain Covey was listed as limited.

It wasn’t surprising to see guys like A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley on the report as they were listed as DNPs for rest. The same can be said about Landon Dickerson and Cam Jurgens, who were banged up after the Eagles’ win over Washington in the NFC title game.

However, seeing DeVonta Smith pop up with a hamstring injury is something to monitor over the next few days heading into next week.

The veteran wide receiver is coming off a solid game against the Commanders, where he had four receptions (four targets) for 45 yards. If the Eagles played this weekend, there might be some concern around Smith, who missed two games because of a hamstring injury.

When the Eagles played the Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII, Smith posted seven receptions (nine targets) for 100 yards. With Kansas City likely trying to slow down Barkley, Jalen Hurts and Philly’s passing game will have to make some explosive plays to keep the Chiefs’ defense honest.
