Eagles Get Concerning Injury News on Star Defender at Wednesday's Practice
The Philadelphia Eagles have begun preparing for the Week 9 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lincoln Financial Field.
This group has won three straight games and has its sights set on No. 4. Doug Pederson is a familiar face that Philadelphia will see on Sunday. While it will be a reunion on Sunday, the update regarding cornerback Darius Slay isn't exciting.
Eagles News: Darius Slay Isn’t Practicing on Wednesday
According to Zach Berman of PHLY, Darius Slay wasn't present at practice. The 33-year-old injured his groin in the second half of the game against the Cincinnati Bengals and was ruled out for the remainder of the contest.
Wednesday's practices are typically walkthroughs, so we'll need to keep an eye on the injury report for Thursday and Friday's practice. That will give us a better indication if Slay will suit up but this isn't a step in a positive direction.
Slay has been up and down for the Eagles at moments this season, but Philadelphia is a better team with him on the field. The six-time Pro Bowler has compiled 27 total tackles, five pass deflections, and one forced fumble. Per PFF, Slay has a 70.3 overall grade and a 72.2 coverage grade.
If Slay can't give it a go, the Eagles have the depth to withstand his absence. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean have shown plenty of flashes this season. They also have Isaiah Rodgers who can step up.
GM Howie Roseman did a solid job having multiple players who can fill in when needed. And there's a chance it could be relied upon in Week 9.
