Eagles Sign Failed Commanders Draft Pick on Wednesday
The Philadelphia Eagles have won three consecutive games and are 5-2. They have a home contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Philadelphia can get to 6-2 before taking on the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders in Weeks 10 and 11.
The Eagles like every other team in the NFL, is dealing with multiple injuries. On Wednesday, they decided to sign a former Washington Commander to the practice squad.
Eagles News: Philadelphia Signs Braeden Daniels to Practice Squad
According to Zach Berman, the Eagles are signing offensive lineman Braeden Daniels to the practice squad.
Daniels was a fourth-round pick by the Washington Commanders in the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Daniels was with Washington during training camp but was released in August. Following his departure there, he had stints on the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Chargers practice squads.
Berman added that Daniels visited with the Eagles prior to the 2023 NFL Draft, so there was interest. During his collegiate career at Utah, Daniels played in 48 games from 2018-22. He started at left tackle (14 games), right tackle (11), and left guard (18 games).
Guard Mekhi Becton suffered a concussion in Week 7 against the New York Giants and missed the Week 8 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals. He returned to practice on Wednesday, but if he can't go, Tyler Steen will likely be his replacement again.
Having Daniels on the practice squad gives Philly depth and flexibility along the interior if another injury happens.
