It hasn't been pretty, but the Philadelphia Eagles are off to a 2-0 start to the 2025 NFL season. Their perfect start has happened despite various key players being hurt, including tight end Dallas Goedert, who missed Week 2 with a knee injury. Naturally, Eagles fans are wondering about his return.

Fortunately, Goedert's outlook is on the upswing, as Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reported on Wednesday that Philadelphia's star tight end has returned to practice. .

Dallas Goedert Returns to Eagles Practice in Week 3

Goedert suffered a knee sprain in Week 1, and it wasn't considered to be a long-term injury. He even traveled with the team to Kansas City, indicating things weren't too serious. Philadelphia had Grant Calcaterra start in his place, yet he was underwhelming in the contest, finishing with the lowest offensive grade on the team at 44.9 on Pro Football Focus.

Getting Goedert back is a bonus for this team as both a pass catcher and a run blocker. Although he hasn't played a full season since his rookie year in 2018, the Eagles know what he brings to the field when he does suit up.

He's a safety blanket underneath for quarterback Jalen Hurts and can create after the catch. Philadelphia is a run-first team, and having your 6-foot-5, 256-pound playmaker on the end is huge for opening rushing lanes.

This pushes Calcaterra back into his TE2 role, where he's more comfortable and productive. The rest of the week will be crucial to see how Goedert looks in practice and how his knee reacts to being back on the field. That will dictate whether or not he returns in Week 3.

Nonetheless, this is the exact update Eagles fans want to see about one of their starters. In the season opener, he caught all seven targets for 44 yards, and he will only help a passing attack that has failed to get off the ground. The Eagles are currently 31st in the NFL in passing yards per game (119), and Hurts still hasn't thrown a touchdown pass since Super Bowl 59

The aerial attack runs through wideouts A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, but having another weapon who has chemistry with Hurts would be a huge boost against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3.

In four career games against the Rams, Goedert has logged 18 catches for 178 receiving yards and one touchdown. He'll look to add to these numbers on Sunday and help the Eagles get to 3-0.
