Eagles Cut Ties With 5 Players Immediately After Super Bowl Win

While the Philadelphia Eagles celebrate their impressive postseason run that ended with them lifting the Lombardi Trophy, the NFL offseason is in full swing. The Eagles have the makings of a dynasty thanks to their young, deep core but GM Howie Roseman has to continue to push the right buttons in the offseason to keep them in contention for more Super Bowls.

At the conclusion of a season, the first order of business for teams is to sign their players to reserve/future deals. These are not guaranteed contracts but are used to ensure your players can't sign with other teams in the offseason.

On Friday, the Eagles announced that they signed 13 players who finished the season on their practice squad to reserve/future deals. These players will have a chance to make the roster in training camp.

Eagles Move On from 5 Players After the Super Bowl Win

This, however, also means that the Eagles already parted ways with five players who finished the season on the practice squad. QB Ian Book, DE Charles Harris, FB Khari Blasingame, LB Nicholas Morrow, and WR Kyle Phillips were not signed to deals.

Morrow and Blasingame's inclusion on this list is certainly surprising. Both players played in the postseason for the Eagles, albeit in very limited or exclusively special teams roles.

Blasingame was signed after fullback Ben VanSumeren went down for the season with a knee injury and was elevated to the active squad for each playoff game. Morrow had returned to the Eagles after the wild-card round once Nakobe Dean's season ended with an injury. He played four defensive snaps, all coming against the Commanders in the NFC championship game.

The Eagles can still choose to sign these players, but they will likely look elsewhere first to make more reserve/future deals.
