The Philadelphia Eagles won ten straight games and are chasing the first-round bye as we approach the final three weeks of the season. The defense has reached new levels in recent weeks, keeping nine of their last ten opponents below 20 points or fewer. The offense, however, has been less consistent throughout the recent weeks.

The passing game has been especially up and down. It caused a locker room rift between A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts recently. It is obvious that the Eagles need to rely less on Saquon Barkley and add more versatility to their attack.

The most obvious need for the Eagles is the WR3 spot. Philadelphia traded for Jahan Dotson for that role before the start of the season but the former Commanders playmaker never established himself as a high-level option this season. In 14 games this season, Dotson has 12 catches for 122 yards and zero touchdowns.

If the Eagles are looking for upgrades before the postseason, they can turn to a former Steelers star. Pro Bowl wide receiver Diontae Johnson was released by the Ravens on Friday and is now available to be claimed off waivers until Monday afternoon.

WR Diontae Johnson is an Intriguing Option for the Eagles

Johnson started the season with the Panthers but was traded to the Ravens at the deadline. His tenure in Baltimore didn't go according to plan, as he only played four games and registered one catch. After his role was reduced, Johnson refused to enter the game against the Eagles in Week 13 and received a suspension from the team. Subsequently, he was waived, making him an intriguing option for contending teams.

The Eagles may not be able to claim Johnson off waivers due to their place in the waiver order. However, they need to try to add the former 1,000+ yard pass-catcher to boost their offense heading into the postseason with Super Bowl aspirations.
