The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most stacked offenses in the National Football League. It hasn't always looked that way under new offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, but that's not a personnel issue.
Even so, GM Howie Roseman is always looking to add more firepower, especially if those players can also contribute to something else. That's why it shouldn't be a surprise to hear NFL insider Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 report that they just worked out Zach Pascal.
Eagles Worked Out Former WR Zach Pascal on Tuesday
Pascal is more than familiar with Nick Sirianni. He was with the Indianapolis Colts when Sirianni was their offensive coordinator, and he was a rotational piece in 2022 when the Eagles fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
A former undrafted free agent out of Old Dominion University, Pascal appeared in all 17 games during that first Super Bowl run. While he spent most of his time on special teams and drew a reputation for being a relentless blocker, he also contributed to the passing games with 15 receptions on 19 targets for 150 yards and one touchdown.
Pascal left the Eagles after one season for a two-year stint with the Arizona Cardinals. He hasn't played since the 2024 season, and so far, he's logged 169 receptions for 2,057 yards and 16 touchdowns over 112 appearances (47 starts). He joined the New York Giants this offseason, but failed to make the 53-man roster and has been a free agent ever since.
While the Eagles are clearly more than set at the wide receiver department with two legitimate stars like DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown, plus Jahan Dotson as a solid third option, there's no such thing as having too much firepower. Also, Pascal returned 26 kickoffs for 597 yards last season (23.0 yards per return on average), so he can also be useful there.
The Eagles' offense has been a point of contention this season. Losing former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has taken a toll on the team's creativity and explosiveness, and there is an argument to be had that Jalen Hurts has regressed to a degree.
Perhaps bringing back a familiar face won't only help on the field but also alleviate things in the locker room. With all the rumblings and narratives around A.J. Brown and the offense, Pascal's impact as a veteran might go way beyond what we see in the stat sheet. This team is aiming for a repeat, and they can't afford to waste any opportunity to get better.
