Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown was once again the talk among Eagles fans on social media this week after his comments on a Madden stream with streamer Janky Rondo, and then at his locker room.
The star receiver is clearly frustrated, not only about his role but also the offense as a whole. He said as much to reporters on Wednesday in an unapologetic fashion.
However, after those two things happened, the star wide receiver reportedly met with Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie at practice on Thursday to talk about his frustrations. And the two parties were able to come to terms on a resolution, which should quell some of the noise.
AJ Brown Makes Promise to Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie in Reported Meeting at Practice
According to ESPN’s Sal Palantonio, the veteran pass catcher promised the Eagles owner in their 10-minute conversation that he would stop complaining on social media. Yet, Brown made it known that he’s frustrated and wants to be part of the offense.
Additionally, a team official told Palantonio that Lurie also told Brown not to apologize as the meeting concluded with them hugging it out before the star wideout returned to practice.
If you’re an Eagles fan, you hope that this is the last of the ongoing dilemma involving Brown as the team tries to make a strong second-half push.
It’s well known that Brown isn’t having the typical Eagles season that we’ve grown accustomed to seeing over the last three years. Through eight games this season, the veteran receiver has only 31 receptions (54 targets) for 408 yards and three touchdowns.
At his current pace, Brown is projected to finish with 59 receptions (102 targets) for 771 yards and six touchdowns. The 59 receptions would be the second-fewest Brown has had in his career since his rookie season in 2019 with the Tennessee Titans (52).
The same can be said for receiving yards, which would be the fewest in his entire career. Unlike last year, the Eagles’ offense has yet to have a game or even multiple games where they’re on the same accord for all four quarters.
While DeVonta Smith is on track to have one of his best years as a professional, along with Dallas Goedert as a red zone threat, Brown is still searching to see where he fits within Kevin Patullo’s scheme.
That said, Eagles fans hope Patullo can find ways to scheme Brown open, starting with Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Lions team that’s missing multiple starters in the secondary. A big game from the star wide receiver could not only get him on track, but help this offense look like the team we saw in 2024.
