Eagles' Cam Jurgens Injury Update Reveals Status vs. Commanders in NFC Championship
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders are going to square off in the NFC Championship Game. The winner advances to Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 to match up against either the Kansas City Chiefs or Buffalo Bills.
Despite defeating the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round, the Eagles saw guys like Jalen Hurts, Quinyon Mitchell, and Cam Jurgens suffer some injuries.
Hurts and Mitchell are expected to play on Sunday but there were serious doubts on Jurgens. He was listed as a DNP for Wednesday and Thursday's practices due to a back injury. It's unclear when he got injured, as he played in every offensive snap against the Rams.
On Friday, Philadelphia got terrific news as Jurgens returned to practice.
Eagles News: Cam Jurgens Returned to Practice on Friday
According to Jeff McLane, Jurgers was going through warm-ups, which is a good sign for him to play on Sunday.
There was some doubt among fans when guard Landon Dickerson was taking snaps at center in Thursday's practice.
With Jurgens getting back on the field, it indicates he's trending toward playing against the Commanders. We'll need to keep an eye on the injury report for the Eagles but this is a positive first step.
Jurgens played in 16 games for the Eagles during the regular season. According to PFF, he finished with a 67.1 overall grade (16th among 64 eligible centers) and a 68.5 run-blocking grade (19th among 64 eligible centers). In addition, he only allowed four sacks and one QB hit during the regular season.
His stellar performance landed him on the 2024 Pro Bowl roster. Getting Jurgens out there will fortify the Eagles' offensive line in the biggest game of the season. Although it isn't 100% confirmed that he'll play yet, getting back on the practice field is crucial.
Hopefully, the couple of days off gave him the rest that he needed.
Note: The Philadelphia Eagles listed Cam Jurgens as a limited participant with a designation as questionable in their final injury report on Friday.
