It's been a long time since an Eagles-Commanders matchup felt like it carried as much weight as the upcoming Week 11 Thursday Night Football showdown does. The two 7-win teams are duking it out at the top of the NFC East, in a conference in which it will probably take 10 wins to even earn a Wild Card playoff spot. The stakes couldn't be much higher.

And with so much on the line, Philadelphia Eagles fans have to love the latest news on one of their injured stars. It was teased on Tuesday night, but Adam Schefter broke the actual news we've been waiting for on Wednesday.

Jordan Mailata is being activated from the injured reserve, meaning he's all but guaranteed to make his return to action on Thursday night.

Mailata has been on the shelf since Week 6, when a hamstring injury sent him to the sideline and eventually the IR.

The Eagles went 4- in his absence, but that shouldn't give you any false sense of security in having Fred Johnson starting at left tackle. PFF had Johnson graded out below 60.0 in three of his four starts, and he's got a grade of 52.6 on the season — including a brutal 42.9 pass-blocking grade.

But to Johnson's credit, he at least did enough to avoid sinking the Philly offense, which averaged 31.8 points per game during that stretch.

Of course, Mailata and his elite 88.4 PFF grade (which ranks third among their 76 graded tackles on the season), can carry this offense even higher.

At 7-2 and riding a five-game winning streak, it's got to be a scary thought for opponents that the Eagles are still just now getting healthy and rounding into form. Philly fans of course will remember the late-season collapse from 2023, but the vibes are very different now.

The success of this team feels a lot more sustainable than we saw last year, and a primetime win over the Commanders would only punctuate that fact.
