Success comes at a price and the Philadelphia Eagles learned that the hard way on Tuesday.

Two days after winning Super Bowl 59, Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has been hired as the New Orleans Saints' new head coach. As much as Moore's departure stings, it isn't surprising given that he was rumored to be the Saints' top candidate throughout the last several weeks.

After the news was announced, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni told The Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman that he often won't let departing coaches take staff members with them. Having said that, it looks like that rule may not apply to at least one of the team's assistants.

Eagles Rumors: Kellen Moore Might Bring Doug Nussmeier to Saints

According to Berman, there's a decent chance that quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier will follow Moore to New Orleans.

"I wouldn't apply (Sirianni's statement) to Doug Nussmeier, who came with Kellen Moore, worked with Moore in three places," Berman wrote. "(He) would be in line for a promotion, and has a son who is the starting QB at LSU."

The coaching duo has been linked at the hip for seven years, so it wouldn't be shocking if Nussmeier did join the Saints coaching staff that Moore is building.

The pair were brought on to the Dallas Cowboys staff ahead of the 2018 season with Nussmeier coaching tight ends while Moore handled worked with the quarterback. Moore was promoted to offensive coordinator one season later, allowing Nussmeier to take on his old QB coach job in 2020.

Moore left the Cowboys in 2023 to work as the Los Angeles Chargers OC, bringing Nussmeier with him as the team's new QB coach. The separable tandem then continued their partnership under the same roles with the Eagles this past season, finally achieving football's ultimate goal of winning the Super Bowl.

Additionally, Nussmeier has a couple of connections to New Orleans. Not only would moving to NOLA bring Nussmeier closer to his son and LSU QB, Garrett, but it would also reunite him with the Saints, whom he spent four seasons with (1994-97) as a backup signal-caller.

Losing Nussmeier on top of Moore in the same offseason wouldn't be ideal, but that's all a part of the NFL coaching experience. Fortunately, the Eagles are a well-run organization and will be just fine after getting over the temporary pain.

Besides, Philadelphia's outlook is still promising even with the coaching changes. The Eagles are currently FanDuel Sportsbook's Super Bowl 60 favorites (+600) as the NFL offseason prepares to kick into overdrive.
