Given that they are coming off a Super Bowl championship, it is hard to question any decisions made by the Philadelphia Eagles' front office. Even if they don't seem to make much sense at face value, there is some endgame being pursued by Howie Roseman and company, much like there is with every other roster move the Eagles make.
With that being said, the defending champions clearly seem to have something in the works after reports circulated on Tuesday regarding a workout the team plans to have with a recently released edge rusher who was a second-round pick in the 2023 draft. The catch with this particular workout is when it will take place.
According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, former Notre Dame standout and New Orleans Saints draft pick Isaiah Foskey is expected to conduct a workout in Philadelphia sometime next week. That's correct. The Eagles have scheduled workouts with prospective free agent additions following this Thursday's season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, not beforehand.

Eagles Working Out FA DE Isaiah Foskey Ahead of Week 2 Matchup
Whether it was a matter of Foskey being available to conduct a workout with the team before Thursday night's season opener, or Nick Sirianni and company being comfortable enough with the pass rushers in the fold at this time to delay the workout until next week, having something like scheduled so far out when the Eagles are already in-season is a bit surprising.
Philadelphia's front office sees something in the recent second-round pick, though, and that is why he will work out for the Eagles in addition to the workout he has scheduled this week with the Chicago Bears.
While things clearly didn't go as planned for Foskey during his stay in New Orleans, he was thought highly enough coming out of college to be selected in the second round. One look at his production while at Notre Dame proves why that was the case, as his career totals of 122 tackles, 26.5 QB sacks, and seven forced fumbles are impressive numbers regardless of who they come against. This could be an instance where a change of scenery is what is needed to untap the potential inside the edge rusher.
After recording 10.5 QB sacks over his first two seasons as a professional, recent top-10 pick Jalen Carter should have no concerns about Philadelphia getting a look at a DE who has hit the open market.
The same cannot be said for Moro Ojomo, though. With 23 total tackles and zero QB sacks to his name after 25 appearances for the Eagles, Ojomo better have a strong showing in the season opener if he wants to feel safe in his role on the opposite end of Carter along the defensive front.
This wouldn't be the first time that adding talent at the DE position was floated as a real possibility in Philadelphia this season. Fans will have to wait and see whether anything comes of this particular workout once it takes place ahead of Week 2.
