Philadelphia Eagles LB Devin White's tenure with the organization is off to a rocky start and he's now taken to social media with a cryptic post signaling his belief in himself.

The former All-Pro hasn't yet appeared in a game with the organization, but his brief time has been mired by injury, deleted Twitter posts, and general distractions. There's hope that White could finally make his debut after the bye week, though some fans are justifiably already worn down by his antics.

Nakobe Dean has taken the starting job while White has been sidelined. What once looked like a bargain signing has now turned into a headache for all involved.

There's nothing inherently wrong with a post like this. White has been consistent about his faith. At its face, this is merely an athlete expressing confidence and optimism.

Combined with all of the other mishaps though, it's fair to wonder what White's mindset was during the bye week. If he doesn't get the playing time he hopes for, could he become a bigger distraction throughout the rest of the season?

The 2019 first-round pick struggled in 2023 but was a rangy, impactful defender until that point. He notched 124 tackles, 5.5 sacks and three fumble recoveries in 2022 but fell out of favor in Tampa Bay after that impressive season. White signed a one-year deal with Philadelphia hoping to rebuild his value but his value has only declined.

He believes that the best is yet to come. Perhaps he's right. The Eagles would certainly be better off for it, especially considering the defense ranks 30th in the NFL in opponent yards per play (6.0).

If he overcomes his injury to become a productive player, White could still get the large contract he desires. At this point though, it's hard to argue he's been anything but a frustrating distraction.
