Desperate Cowboys Sign Eagles Practice Squad Castoff
By Cem Yolbulan
Despite starting the season as co-favorites in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles followed completely opposite trajectories throughout the season. As the Cowboys completely fell apart and found themselves at 5-8 with four games left, the Eagles went on an impressive nine-game winning streak. Having already earned a postseason berth, the Eagles are looking to secure the NFC's top seed, while Dallas is desperately hoping for the season to end without more embarrassing losses.
The Cowboys will likely use the final stretch of the season to evaluate their roster. Their performance in the remaining four games will determine their future in the organization for some Cowboys. This includes new signings to the practice squad.
On Thursday, the Cowboys signed offensive lineman Braeden Daniels to give him a look amidst injuries. The fourth-round pick out of Utah spent some time on the Eagles practice squad earlier this season but was released before getting a chance to be elevated to the active roster.
NFL News: Cowboys Sign OL Braeden Daniels
Daniels was selected by the Washington Commanders with the No. 118 overall pick in 2023. His rookie season was marred by a rotator cuff tear that landed him on the injured reserve list. He was released in the 2024 offseason before he could make his NFL debut. Since then, he has been bouncing around various practice squads, with the Cowboys being his fourth team since his release.
The Cowboys lost guard Zack Martin for the year, center Cooper Beebe will likely miss time with a concussion, and rookie left tackle Tyler Guyton has been underperforming all season. Daniels could sneak his way into the rotation and make his NFL debut for a team that doesn't have much to play for at this point in the season.
