Bryce Huff Only Has 1 Path to Playing in Super Bowl
The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing for the biggest game of the season. On Sunday, the Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs will battle to determine the winner of Super Bowl 59.
The Eagles were one of the best teams all season long, They went 14-3 and secured three straight wins at home to punch their ticket to the big game.
In free agency, Philadelphia made a ton of splashes. One of their big signings was Bryce Huff, who landed a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed.
The Eagles were under the assumption that they were getting an emerging edge rusher but it's been the complete opposite. He's completely fallen out of the pass-rush rotation behind Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, and Jalyx Hunt.
With the Super Bowl on the horizon, the only way that Huff will get some playing time is if it's a huge blowout and the reserves get some snaps at the end of the game.
Huff has seen his playing time get slashed since Week 9. The Memphis product has logged less than 30% of defensive snaps in five games from Weeks 9-18. He spent some time on IR with a wrist injury but even when he returned, Huff stayed on the bench.
In the Wild Card Round, he played one snap. In the Divisional Round, he had zero snaps, and just 12 snaps in the NFC Championship Game.
Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is locked into his defensive line rotation and Huff isn't a part of it. That formula has worked all the way to the Super Bowl so there's no shot they switch things up now.
Huff's time in Philadelphia has been rocky. Suiting up in the Super Bowl is massive but it doesn't look like he'll be stepping onto the field unless there's a blowout. If not, Huff will spend the majority of the game on the sideline.
