Another Ex-Eagles TE Joining Commanders for Playoff Push
The Philadelphia Eagles (12-2) are tied for the best record in the NFC with the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. They are fighting to keep their ten-game win streak going and earn the No. 1 seed to have the playoffs run through Lincoln Financial Field.
In Week 16, the Eagles travel to play the Washington Commanders in an NFC East battle. While these teams have begun the preparations, an ex-Eagle signed Washington's practice squad.
Eagles News: Tyree Jackson Lands on Washington’s Practice Squad
Per Ian Rapoport, the Commanders signed TE Tyree Jackson to their practice squad. The 27-year-old came into the league as an undrafted free agent and signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2019. He made a brief stop in the XFL before heading back to the pros.
In 2021, Jackson signed with the Eagles and made the transition from quarterback to tight end. He stayed in the City of Brotherly Love for two years before being let go and signing with the New York Giants in 2023.
In his career, Jackson has three catches (seven targets) for 22 yards and one touchdown. Washington currently has Zach Ertz, John Bates, and Ben Sinnott on the active roster. Adding Jackson to the fold gives them another athletic weapon on offense.
Jackson went to the University at Buffalo from 2016-2018, where he notched MAC Offensive Player of the Year (2018). During his collegiate career at quarterback, Jackson threw for 6,999 yards with 49 passing scores. He also added 757 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
He stands at 6-foot-7, giving the quarterback a big frame to throw the ball too. Jackson likely won't get elevated to the active roster, but anything can happen in this physical sport if someone goes down with an injury.
While he won't be suiting up against his former team, he may be on the sideline for the matchup. Back in Week 11, the Eagles beat the Commanders 26-18 and will be going for the season sweep.
