The Philadelphia Eagles have done a good job of avoiding serious injury at training camp, unlike a few other teams around the league.
On Monday, Philadelphia fans took a huge sigh of relief when they found out that three-time Pro Bowl guard Landon Dickerson will only need to undergo a “minor procedure” on the meniscus in his right knee, and the hope is that he’ll be ready for the season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
Along with Dickerson, the Eagles are also monitoring the statuses of multiple players, including star wide receiver A.J. Brown. Earlier this month, Pro Football Talk reported that Brown had left practice on Aug. 1 early and didn’t practice the following Sunday because of a hamstring injury.
At the time, the Eagles didn’t provide a timeline for Brown’s return. As we all know, soft tissue injuries can linger if not properly treated, so it's not surprising that the Eagles are taking it easy with Brown.
However, when the team hit the practice field for its joint practice against the Browns, the star receiver was not available.
No practice for AJ Brown. He was limited the last 2 days.

Star Eagles WR Misses Wednesday’s Joint Practice Against Browns
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Tim McManus reported that Brown was among the multiple Eagles who did not practice. But McManus added that the veteran wide receiver was limited the two previous days of practice.
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer also reported that Brown not practicing after being limited doesn't mean he had a setback. McLane cautions that the Eagles don't want to push him at this point in camp.
A.J. Brown not practicing with the Browns after being a limited participant in previous practices doesn’t mean he suffered a setback, from what I understand.#Eagles just didn’t want to push his hamstring at this point of camp. https://t.co/s383z8Bd91

Since the starters will most likely not play in the preseason, Wednesday’s joint practice against the Browns would’ve been a good opportunity for Brown to get some work in vs. a different opponent.
That said, the Eagles cannot afford to rush the star wide receiver back because he means a lot to the success of the offense. Since arriving in Philadelphia ahead of the 2022 season, Brown has established himself as one of the best WRs in the game with how he plays on the outside.
Over his three-year run with the Eagles, Brown has crossed the 1,000-yard threshold every time. Last season, the star pass catcher missed a few games due to injury but still managed to have 67 receptions (97 targets) for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Eagles would love to see Brown hit that 1,000-yard mark for the fourth-straight season, but he needs to get healthy first, which is the top priority before the action begins on September 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.
