After an expected mass exodus in free agency, the Philadelphia Eagles will look to add more talent to their roster this upcoming week in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Eagles have a ton of picks in this year’s draft to bolster several spots on their roster as they look to defend their Super Bowl title. Philadelphia could also use those draft picks to move up or down the draft board to add veteran talent or get the player they covet.
Heading into the NFL draft, Eagles veteran tight end Dallas Goedert has been the subject of trade rumors as he’s entering the last year of his deal. Most Eagles fans wouldn’t be shocked if Goedert is traded in the near future.
However, a ridiculous and nonsensical draft day trade rumor involving star wide receiver A.J. Brown and the New England Patriots have surfaced out of Boston.
According to Nick "Fitzy" Stevens, who called into WEEI Afternoons on Friday, a potential trade draft day trade could go down with the Eagles and Patriots, per his reliable source.
"That’s right, I got a call earlier today saying that the Philadelphia Eagles really, really, really want Abdul Carter and that they would consider, or rather are planning, to call your New England Patriots on draft day, if Carter falls to four, to see if Mike Vrabel would like a reunion with AJ Brown, and possibly more draft selections and compensation to come."

As you can imagine, when Eagles fans saw this “trade rumor” on social media, they immediately called BS.
There’s no way that Philadelphia would trade Brown to the Patriots, especially after signing him to a three-year, $96 million contract extension last year and winning a Super Bowl this past season.
If the Eagles were to trade the star wide receiver, it would destroy their salary cap. According to OverTheCap.com, a Brown trade would result in $59.8 million in dead cap and -$42.3 million in cap savings.
We know how much the Patriots fanbase is infatuated with the idea of trading for Brown, who would be reunited with his former head coach in Mike Vrabel. However, the Eagles aren’t doing that for Abdul Carter, even though he is an Eagles fan and an outstanding pass rusher who would take this defense to another level.
Eagles fans don’t have to worry about Brown going anywhere soon. He’s a part of this core and will look to add to his championship collection in the years to come with Jalen Hurts.
