While offseason acquisitions of former first-round picks are typically met with fanfare, the addition of Adoree' Jackson to the Philadelphia Eagles' secondary raised plenty of eyebrows at the time.
Unfortunately, Jackson's debut got off to a rocky start as the veteran cornerback was forced to leave the field during the first half to be checked for a potential concussion. Given the size and speed that is part of the game these days, head injuries are nothing that should be taken lightly. Philadelphia's medical staff made sure they took every precaution by immediately examining Jackson.
While Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer speculated that the veteran was benched due to his performance before the first half even came to an end, we now know that Jackson was checked for a concussion but was ultimately cleared to play the remainder of the game.

Entering training camp, this was supposed to be former Georgia Bulldogs standout Kelee Ringo's job to lose. As fans know, his uninspiring play throughout the preseason eliminated him from the conversation to be a starter early in the process.
With Ringo dropping the ball on what was supposed to be his big opportunity, Jackson was viewed as the next best option entering Week 1. After wearing out his welcome with the Tennessee Titans and, more recently, the New York Giants, relying on a player that their division rival deemed expendable was a mistake from the start. Jackson's early struggles in the season opener before needing to be checked for a head injury are further proof of that.
This will be a situation to follow as the season moves forward, as Jackson did himself no favors on Thursday night. Fortunately, the veteran's overall health does not appear to be in question after the medical staff acted quickly to ensure his safety.
