3 Eagles Playing Their Final December in Philadelphia
3. Jahan Dotson, WR
The Eagles are fortunate to have a wide receiver room led by A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, two of the best playmakers in the game today. Unfortunately, their WR depth beyond the dynamic duo has been abysmal and Jahan Dotson's 2024 performance has been a glaring example of that issue.
A former 2022 first-round pick by the Washington Commanders, Dotson's time in Philly has been extremely underwhelming. After recording back-to-back 500-yard performances to begin his NFL career, the Newark, NJ native has been tough to watch this year as he's only managed to catch 12-of-21 targets (57.1%) for 122 yards without a touchdown in 13 games.
It'd be one thing if Dotson had any notable performances under his belt, but that hasn't been the case either. He's only toppled the 20-yard mark twice this season and has more single-digit performances (9) than multi-digit ones (4), which is even worse given the fact that he's played 57% of offensive snaps.
Unless he has a terrific end-of-season performance, there isn't a good reason to bring Dotson back in 2025. Yes, he's currently under contract for one more season, however, they can get rid of his entire $2.7 million cap hit if they trade him at any point next season.
Even if his production hasn't been there, a combination of his age (24) and draft pedigree could entice a potential suitor to agree to a trade with the Eagles.
In other words, don't be shocked when Dotson's name isn't on next year's 53-man roster.
