The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a bit of a hangover in 2023 after losing the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion. But the Eagles are very clearly back in 2024 and in contention to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl once again.

But in the NFL, there is no such thing as a perfect roster, even as much as Eagles GM Howie Roseman tinkers with his. The Eagles are very well constructed from top to bottom. They have depth, they have star power, and they have the playmakers needed to make a deep playoff run.

Still, even on the best teams in the league, there are players who fans won't be sorry to see leave come time for the offseason. The Eagles obviously have their share of players they took chances on or are on the roster out of necessity. Which players will it be easiest for this franchise to say goodbye to in 2025?

Former 1st-round pick Jahan Dotson making it easy for Eagles to say goodbye in 2025

A lot of folks had a good laugh at the expense of the Washington Commanders when they made the slightly shocking decision not only to trade former first-round pick Jahan Dotson at roster cuts, but to trade him to a division rival.

It was labeled another Howie Roseman masterclass in the art of fleecing another team in a trade.

If only we knew then what we know now, right?

The Eagles are the ones looking like they got fleeced, even paying a pretty reasonable price to take a risk on Dotson. And actually, it's looking more and more like this was a masterclass in the art of making a deal by Commanders first-year GM Adam Peters.

The Commanders sent Dotson and a 5th-round pick to the Eagles in exchange for a 3rd-round pick. Again, at the time, it felt like a very worthwhile risk to take on a talented player and recent first-rounder. But Dotson has just 12 receptions on 21 targets this season and has been a non-factor in the Eagles offense. He might get another shot to prove himself next offseason, but he could quickly become a journeyman as well.
