Disappointment is not an option for the Philadelphia Eagles or their fan base. Since losing in the Super Bowl just a couple of seasons ago against the Kansas City Chiefs, things have gone downhill for Philly, to say the very least.

The Eagles were one of the league's most disappointing teams last year after starting 10-1 and then getting bounced rather easily in the Wild Card round of the playoffs by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles felt the losses of offensive coordinator Shane Steichen (Colts HC) and Jonathan Gannon (Cardinals HC) much more than anyone realized, and they made an in-season move to remove defensive play-calling duties from Sean Desai.

Even after landing a big fish like Vic Fangio to coach the defense in 2024, there are still questions about the long-term future of Nick Sirianni as the head coach in Philadelphia. The Eagles won't move on without a clear plan of action beyond Sirianni, but there could be coaches out there to entice them to make a major change.

But who?

1. Ben Johnson, OC, Lions

When you look across the NFL at teams with potential head coach openings after the 2024 season, Ben Johnson is undoubtedly going to pop up as one of the most attractive and desirable names available.

Johnson has declined chances to become a head coach in recent years and justifiably so. Why would he leave the special thing they are building in Detroit for just any job? He believes in what they are building there, which makes him an even more intriguing option as a future head coach, in my opinion.

Johnson has helped build the Lions into an absolute force of nature offensively. They dominate in the trenches. They have a well-designed running game. They distribute the ball in the passing game as well as anyone. And the Eagles have the types of players offensively to attract a coach like Johnson.

Given the personnel the Eagles have offensively with an already-established defensive coordinator like Vic Fangio, I could see Ben Johnson really being intrigued by the possibility of taking over Nick Sirianni's job if offered.
