We’ve already looked at how Jalen Hurts is getting disrespected in the NFL MVP odds, but the Eagles aren’t getting enough love on the other side of the ball either.

Haason Reddick has 30-to-1 odds to win Defensive Player of the Year in 2023, ranking just 10th in the market. That’s ridiculous, and it’s not just Eagles fans who think so: FanSided betting insider Peter Dewey has named Reddick a top dark horse bet to win the award.

It’s not hard to see the argument for Reddick. He plays the position that has the best chance to win the award, he’s on arguably the best team in the NFL, he’s the best defensive player on that team, and he’s surrounded by a ridiculous amount of talent that should free him up to make plays.

That’s probably a bit of an oversimplification of Reddick’s case, but honestly it is pretty simple.

Reddick was playing his first year in a new system last season and he still racked up 16.0 sacks and finished fourth in the voting. There’s not been nearly enough change in Philly (or anywhere else) to justify him plummeting in the rankings after that kind of a finish in 2022.

The Eagles may have lost Javon Hargrave, but bringing in Jalen Carter and getting another year of development out of Jordan Davis means this is still the best defensive front (and probably best front-seven) in all of football. Opposing offenses can’t afford to shape their entire protection scheme around neutralizing Reddick, because they’ll get terrorized by the rest of the line if they do.

Reddick was tied for Pro Football Focus’ No. 4-ranked pass rusher off the edge last season, and the 28-year-old is just entering his prime and finally getting to play a second-straight season for the same team for the first time in years.

The Eagles have one of the highest win total projections in the NFL, and everything lines up for Reddick to be at least as dominant and receive at least as much national attention as he did in 2023.

So how in the world could you justify sending him plummeting to a tie for 10th in the odds?

I don’t know the answer to that question, but I do know that I love seeing a national betting insider hyping up Reddick’s +3000 odds.
