Good: Danuel House

If you’re a long-time reader of Section 215, you know that Danuel House is a blog favorite target for the Philadelphia 76ers, and for good reason.

Though his last few seasons haven’t gone quite as planned, as House went from a certified sixth man with the Houston Rockets under Mike D’Antoni to a player waived by Daryl Morey’s predecessor, Raphael Stone, to free up playing time for younger performers like KJ Martin and Jae’Sean Tate, he remains a viable 3-and-D forward who doesn’t need to dribble the ball to be successful.

Had the Sixers targeted House in 2022, when he became available on multiple occasions, maybe their playoff rotation would have shrunk down to six players in Game 6 versus Miami. Maybe House would have been able to pick up where Danny Green left off when he suffered a season-ending injury, and Game 7 would have been forced.

The bad news? That didn’t happen (obviously); House watched his old teammate James Harden get beaten from the confines of his own House – or maybe, like, a sports bar – as the team he ultimately latched on with, the Utah Jazz, lost one round earlier.

With the Jazz unlikely to contend for a playoff spot in 2022-23 unless something changes in a hurry, House may be looking for a new home elsewhere, presumably on a veteran minimum contract. Fortunately, the Sixers can sign as many players as they’d like to a vet minimum deal and would happily house a 6-foot-6 forward who averaged 6.8 points and 2.7 rebounds while hitting 41.5 percent of his 3s.
