The Philadelphia 76ers have hit the rumor mill hard lately as reports from both the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Keith Pompey and Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer have indicated the team is fielding calls and multiple players. From Tobias Harris to Danny Green and, of course, Matisse Thybulle, the Sixers are looking to make some much-needed changes to their currently constructed roster.

When thinking specifically about Matisse Thybulle, it’s quite an interesting case as just last season; he was practically considered untouchable. That is apparently no longer the case after what was a difficult postseason for Thybulle, to say the least. The two-time NBA All-Defensive teamer averaged a lowly three points per game while shooting 28.6 percent from deep and 33.3 percent from the free-throw line. On top of all this, Thybulle missed three games due to his vaccination status.

All of this left a sour taste in the mouths of Sixers fans and seemingly the front office regarding Matisse Thybulle. Now on the trade block, or at the very least being mentioned in trade talks, this brings up questions about where Thybulle could be heading. Looking around the league, there are a few answers despite Thybulle’s difficult end to the season.

What players could the Philadelphia 76ers target in a Matisse Thybulle move, and would it be worthwhile to trade the defensive savant?

One important thing to note is that Thybulle’s salary (just over $4 million) does make it difficult to trade him. No, it’s not the albatross that Tobias Harris’ contract is; quite the opposite, actually. Thybulle’s salary is so low that in man deals, to acquire an impact player, the Philadelphia 76ers will have to include further salary, like Danny Green.

Despite his limitations, quite a few teams are expected to be interested in the services of the Sixers’ wing. Now it’s up to Daryl Morey to get as much value in return as possible.
