1. Dallas Cowboys

When a team has two of the top five players at a position grouping on their roster, it’s hard not to give them the top spot on this sort of a list.

The Cowboys’ running backs room has the most Pro Bowls of any team in the NFC East, the most All-Pro spots, and, even if Ezekiel Elliott isn’t the player he once was in the eyes of many, they still have one of the two rushers in the NFC East last year who broke through the 1,000-yard mark and, with Dak Prescott expected to run more in 2022, they’ll probably be just as good next season as they were in 2021.

Top performer: Tony Pollard

Is 2022 the year Tony Pollard finally outruns Elliott? Theoretically, he has a pretty good chance.

Since Pollard came to Dallas via a fourth round selection out of Memphis – the same school that produced Antonio Gibson and Kenneth Gainwell – Elliott’s carries have dropped in each subsequent season while his partner in crime becomes more and more of an RB1B instead of an RB2.

If Pollard can keep up his 5.5 yards per carry average, and Elliott remains under 4.5, the former might just overcome the latter even if he doesn’t earn as many carries.
