Just as the excitement was building for the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys matchup on Monday Night Football, a report from practice could change the feeling from excitement to trepidation for Monday.

Eagles rising star Jordan Mailata missed practice today with an apparent knee sprain, the result of getting rolled on at the end of last practice.

The recently extended Mailata has shown out this season so far and has been crucial in protecting Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts. According to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Dave Zangaro, at this point in time, Jordan Mailata’s status is questionable heading into Monday night’s game.

If Mailata does miss any time, it could spell trouble for the Eagles, who would suffer a significant down-grade to former first-round pick Andre Dillard. While Dillard is still young enough to surprise, it’s unlikely to end well, considering what has been seen so far.

Andre Dillard has big shoes to fill for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3.

With Randy Gregory set to return, the Eagles need to make sure that whoever is protecting Jalen Hurt’s blindside is ready for the challenge. While the Cowboys’ defense doesn’t strike fear into the heart of anyone, the 1-1 Eagles need a win here against their most hated rival and potentially losing Mailata is certainly concerning.

The former rugby player has quickly become one of the top young Left Tackles in football and a Pro Football Focus darling. He’s even been graded as the third-highest offensive lineman this season so far, according to PFF.

Next. The Philadelphia Eagles have a time of possession problem. dark

The Philadelphia Eagles are already down one offensive lineman. Brandon Brooks will miss at least the next eight weeks with a torn pectoral muscle. The team dealt with an injured offensive line all of last season, and it’s one of the reasons they only one four games. Nick Siriani will certainly be counting on Andre Dillard and Landon Dickerson to hold down the fort in the meanwhile.
