While many are projecting 2021 to be a rebuilding year for the Philadelphia Eagles, pressure always seems to be high in the city of brotherly love (as we just saw with the Sixers). Even if Howie Roseman, Nick Sirianni, and the rest of the Eagles staff are content with playing for another high draft pick this upcoming season, the fans and the local media likely won’t be.

With that in mind, there are a handful of players currently on the Eagles roster who are set to deal with more pressure than others. Players who are either facing a pivotal year in their football-playing career, or simply have lofty expectations attached to their name.

Jalen Hurts

The team’s new starting quarterback, it would be silly to make a list like this and exclude the likes of Jalen Hurts.

Whether you’re feeling confident or not-so-confident about Hurts’ chances of succeeding as a starting quarterback in the NFL, 2021 will essentially make or break his status as a potential franchise arm. There’s no real competition behind Hurts, he’s got connections to the newly hired coaching staff, and the likes of DeVonta Smith gives him a familiar wide receiver to target.

If Hurts has a productive year and the Eagles win a lot of games, we could be talking about the former Alabama/Oklahoma product as Philly’s QB for the next 5-10 seasons. If he struggles, it’s almost a guarantee that Howie Roseman will be looking to start over with a new young QB via the 2022 Draft. That’s just how the business goes.
